Black Cat Rat Trap Instructions
How to Set the Black Cat Rat Trap
Precautions:
This is a powerful rat trap — it is not a toy.
- Keep trap away from children and pets at all times.
- Always handle with care.
- Never put fingers or hands near the strike bar when the trap is set.
Step 1: Choose the Right Bait
The Black Cat Rat Trap works by triggering when the bait is pulled or tugged upward. That means soft or smeared bait won’t work.
Use:
- Dried meat
- Fruit
- Semi firm candy
Do Not Use:
- Peanut Butter or similar
- Soft Cheese
- Anything soft, sticky, or easily melted

Thread the bait securely through the bait pin. The bait must be secure enough to pull the bait pin when pulled or tugged by a rodent. The bait should not protrude beneath the bait pin or the trap will not set properly.
Step 2: Set the Trap
- Place the trap on a flat, stable surface where you’ve seen rat activity (along walls or near droppings).
- Firmly hold the back of the trap down with one hand.
- With your other hand, pull back the spring-loaded kill bar until it locks into position. Keep fingers and hands away from the strike zone at all times during and after this step.
